Flip Flop Injuries…

Although it may sound trivial, every year I lose at least one client to injury due to over using flip flops at the start of the summer.

Remember, any different type of footwear will place different strains on the foot and the muscles of the lower limb so please build up your use GRADUALLY.

If you haven’t worn flip flops for a while, wear them for 30 mins to an hour for the first few days / weeks.

Don’t be surpised if your calfs, achilles or arches are in bits for days if you wear your flip flops for 3 -5 hours the first time you go out in them.

It sounds trivial but it can be EXTREMELY painful, and set back your exercise plans unnecessarily.

Here’s a quick article explaining why flip flops can be a bad idea for SOME people.

Good Luck Sharon May! “The Lyke Wake Walk”

Sharon once strained her thigh muscle during the infamous Bootcamp Session "Walk Your Talk" She didn't even cry....Legend.

A Massive “Good Luck” to UV Bootcamper Sharon May who is going to be doing the Lyke Wake Walk in Yorkshire on the 3rd of July.

The walk is 40 miles long and will start at 4am, with the challenge of completing it in less than 24hrs!

Sharon will be taking part in order to raise money for a premature baby charity called Born Too Soon, who helped a good friend of Sharon’s (who will also be doing the walk) baby survive when they were born prematurely.

There is a fantastic description of how the charity helped the family, and the child, through such a traumatic ordeal on the Just Giving Site - please feel free to give something – no matter how little – and post a message of support for Sharon and the team!

Good luck Sharon – We want that walk done in less than 16 hours!

Good Luck Anna John!

This weekend Seasoned UV Bootcamper Anna John will be running the Edinburgh Marathon in order to raise money for the charity that supports her amazing God Daughter, Anusha.

As Anna explains on her Just Giving Page, Anusha runs the equivalent of a marathon every day due to a muscle debilitating disease she was born with. With the help of therapists she has overcome severe challenges in order to be able to walk and hopes to be able to one day run and play like other children. She is only 5 years old. I have met Anusha, and she is a truly amazing person.

Anna is hoping to set a personal best this weekend by breaking the 3hr 45 minute mark for the first time.

You can sponsor her and help Anusha on her just giving page here.

Good luck Anna!
